? What is the Hela game?
“Hela game” usually refers to Hela: of Mice & Magic, a wholesome 3D open-world co-op adventure game by Swedish studio Windup Games, published by Knights Peak. You play a brave little mouse, familiar of a kind witch, exploring a world inspired by northern Sweden. It launches December 1, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. (If you were looking for the Marvel character, the Norse goddess or the lab cell line, wrong Hela, but welcome anyway.)
? When does Hela: of Mice & Magic release?
December 1, 2026, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox PC app), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical versions for PS5, Xbox Series X and Switch 2 (Game-Key Card) ship the same day.
? Is Hela co-op? How many players does it support?
Yes. You can play the entire adventure solo, in two-player local split-screen, or in online co-op with up to four players. Co-designed puzzles remain fully solvable alone thanks to the Shade System.
? Is Hela crossplay?
Crossplay has not been confirmed or ruled out by Windup Games yet. Online co-op for up to four players is confirmed; we will update this page as soon as the studio clarifies cross-platform play.
? Does Hela need an Epic account?
The PC version requires Epic Online Services (a free third-party account layer). You can link it to your Steam account, you do not need to install the Epic Games Store launcher to play on Steam.
? Is Hela on Game Pass?
Nothing has been announced. Hela is published by Knights Peak (an ID@Xbox title); if a Game Pass deal happens, it will be announced officially.
? Is Hela a single-player game?
Fully. Every co-op puzzle can be completed solo using the Shade System: you summon up to three magical copies that repeat your actions, and you can switch between them. With one friend you gain two more Shades, capped at four characters in total.
? How much does Hela cost?
The digital price has not been announced yet. The physical limited Harmony Edition (game, digital soundtrack, 48-page artbook, reversible map poster, stickers) retails around $39.99 / €39.99.
? Is there a demo?
Yes, a limited-time PC demo ran during Steam Next Fest in October 2026 with puzzles, remedy brewing, split-screen co-op and Steam Deck support. It is expected to return around launch.
? Does Hela run on Steam Deck?
The Next Fest demo was playable on Steam Deck, and the store page lists good compatibility expectations. Final verification may change at launch.
? What languages does Hela support?
Interface and subtitles in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese-Brazil, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. English has full voice acting.
? Who makes Hela?
Windup Games, a Swedish studio in Umeå founded by veterans of the Unravel series; Hela is its debut title. It is published by Knights Peak Interactive (a MY.GAMES label), with Boltray Games handling China and Shochiku handling Japan.

The physical Switch 2 edition ships as a Game-Key Card: the cartridge contains a download key rather than the full game, so you need internet and storage space for the initial download. PS5 and Xbox Series X discs are complete.
